Movement
Mechanical movements made by the Shizuku-Ishi Watch Studio
There can be 200 or more parts contained in a single mechanical watch depending on its type of movement, and the precision of these watches hinges on the precision of their parts. Timepieces from the Shizuku-Ishi Watch Studio are formed with an accuracy of 0.01 mm, machined to a precision of 0.01 g, and tempered with 1-degree, 1-second adjustments, under fine control of both air temperature and humidity.
Each single part is produced to extremely strict standards. Watch cases are formed by cutting them from blocks of metal, then carefully polishing them to achieve their sharply defined shapes with smooth mirror-finish surfaces and hairlines, to bring out the true beauty of their stainless steel materials.
Urushi Urushi, a traditional Japanese craft
The origins of urushi (lacquering) date back more than 9000 years. It is a traditional craft so representative of Japan that the term “JAPAN” is often used to refer to lacquerware in general.
The face of an Urushi watch is made by first thoroughly polishing its base metal, and then applying an undercoat of lacquer. After this undercoat has dried, it is polished once more to ensure a uniform thickness. The processes of undercoating and polishing are repeated again and again by master artisans with long years of experience and incomparable technical skill, to result in a glossy finish of unrivaled beauty.
Detail Special-order boxes and crocodile-skin bands
Special-order boxes which are successors of traditional “Iwayado Tansu“ furniture
These boxes are custom-ordered from the Fujisato Woodworking Plant, which also produces “Iwayado Tansu” bureaus, furniture items from Iwate prefecture officially designated as a traditional craft by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Sturdy metal fittings are hand-mounted on them by master craftsmen, and their layered urushi coatings gain more and more attractive character as they are used.
Leather bands made from crocodile skin
The chic color tones and unique texture of their crocodile skin bands highlight these watches as a perfect match for any outfit or situation. They have a one-push buckle which is easy to fasten and remove, so it will not damage the leather material.
In the description, also indicate “calendar display mechanism” in addition to “stopwatch function” and “power reserve display”.
